GROUND ZER0, New York, N.Y.--Mar. 29, 2004 -- Ground Zero survivors try their best to put the horror of the second Tuesday of September, 2001  into some sort of livable perspective so they don't dwell on the killing and maiming of thousands of innocent comrades that bright, warm September day that ultimately turned the veins and arties of a nation into icy Terror.

Ground Zero survivors try to put the horror of Nine Eleven behind them

But that's not the goal of politicians.   They want the blood of the dead to boil.
They seek to lay the flames of blame on someone, hopefully the President of the United States, or, at least to smear his image with the blood of thousands of Americans for his, or, his staff's incompetence in dealing with the Al Qaeda threat.
Despite the desire to look away or to cover my eyes when I see headlines about the "National Commission On Terrorist Attacks Upon The United States," I am drawn to them like the moth is sucked into the blue-white core of the flame.

The Nine Eleven Panel is ready to grill the president

Holocaust victims become obsessed with insuring no one ever forgets the holocaust, when, at the same time, they wish they or their relatives had not been part of the bloodbath that ended up killing so many and leaving them around as a legacy of Terrorism.  Leaving them as eye-witnesses to the Beast of Terror's ravenous appetite to consume small children, pregnant women, mothers, grandmothers by gnashing their writhing bodies between the Beast's jaws while forcing all who stand nearby to watch while the Beast tells them he will soon be back to feast on them, and their children, and their Children's Children's Children.
There is such a sickness in performing an autopsy on the bodies of nearly 3,000 victims of 9-11, 2,726 some of whom I witnessed either leaping from windows in the Twin Towers or being crushed in millions of pounds of rubble as the buildings fell nearly a quarter mile to punch a giant hole now called Ground Zero.

Richard Clarke's new book came out a few days day before he gave his testimony.....

...that ignited a political firestorm with his assertions about the Bush White House

All over the news, the grave robbers are sucking the last ounces of blood from the victims.    A book by Richard Clarke, a former counter-terrorism advisor who was passed over for the top job as head of Homeland Security, claims in a new book that President Bush ignored the threat of Al Qaeda in a quest to find a reason to go to war with Iraq.
But Clark is only one of many political adversaries who wish to toss buckets of blood on the image of the President and current Administration.   This is an election year and the importance of fault-finding exceeds the national priority of Vigilance.
I was there on September 11, 2001.  I saw the madness, heard the screaming, watched the flaming bodies leaping from the windows, felt the ground heave as the buildings buckled and gasped what I thought were my last breaths of air as I was nearly consumed by a blanket of dark death, the pulverized remains of hundreds and hundreds human bodies smashed in the debris.
I am less concerned about who was at fault three years ago than I am about who is steering the ship in what direction today to insure we are doing our best to starve the Beast of Terror of opportunities to rape, ravage and plunder our land again.

This is the real horror of the Washington Witch Hunt.   It is diverting attention away from the real issue of blocking Terrorism by creating it within.   The more criticism we heap on our leaders, the less faith we have in them to protect us, and the more Fear, Intimidation and Complacency is bred, creating fodder for Terrorism.
Terrorism loves us to finger point at one another as to the "blame" for the death and mismanagement of American property and lives.    The more divided we are within, the more vitriolic we curse one another, the easier for the Beast to slip into the backyards of the innocent and slither into the closets and under the beds of children who wonder why the President would abandon the safety of his people, or be so selfish as to turn his head to the dangers of someone with a finger on the trigger of a bomb.

The finger pointing scalds the image of our leadership

Ultimately, the finger pointing comes down to scalding the image of our leadership in hopes that by scarring the image a fresh new leadership will take control of the helm and do a better job.
This Terrorism of witch hunting only reminds us how primitive we are to use the deaths of others to advance our own agendas.    It is sickening.
People who blame others waste the asset of Vigilance.  Vigilance is a proactive use of today's energy to strengthen the borders against the onslaught of the Beast of Terror.     And, it begins between people's ears.  It begins with how we think, for how we think dictates how we act, for we act upon what we think about most of the time.
If we follow the news, we will be thinking about all the mistakes we made in protecting ourselves, and seeking someone to crucify for causing it.   We will return to the past mistakes and try to assuage the current situation by spilling more blood, our own, through accusation and prosecution of what we call "negligence."

Our focus is shifted from the slithering Beast of Terror

All this time we will shift our focus from the horizon, where the Beast of Terror is approaching, slithering like a viper in the underbrush of our filial fighting.
      This is sad.
The dead at Ground Zero shout for us to stop arguing over their bodies.   They demand we stand up and look at the horizon.  They chant for us to become Sentinels of Vigilance rather than Fomenters of Terrorism.
They want us to stop pointing fingers and pick up the Sword and Shield of Vigilance.   They want us to take the Pledge of Vigilance and be more concerned with what's right for the security of the Children's Children's Children than to try and lay blame on the past that has been buried in rivers of tears.
Stop pointing fingers.  Act.  Take the Pledge of Vigilance today.
